The Street Race

July 13 2022; people 124

It had all the making of an average street race. The dark road. The glaring red light. The revving engines. The anticipation. The sudden green. The floored gas. The squealing tires. The press against the seat.

It was just a regular race—until it wasn’t. Without warning, a bright white light stretched before the careening cars, blinding the drivers, illuminating the street before swallowing up both the motorists and their cars, leaving behind only a gawking bystander.

“So, let’s get this straight. You think that aliens abducted two drivers and their sport cars while you were watching?” Officer Tolson was trying to keep a straight face. If his companion was trying, Collin couldn’t tell.

“Well, yeah,”

“Look here, Collin. We… well… we will have to wait for a missing person report.”
